Ensure Ductwork Efficiency and Energy Savings with the Performance Aire System

Lisa Lewolt

Introducing our exclusive Performance Aire 12-step ductwork process.

Our passionate team here at Pacific Aire is dedicated to getting the freshest, cleanest, and healthiest air possible to your living space.

The way that the contaminants that are in your attic get into your duct system is through a process called the Venturi Effect. Very much like a jet, when a jet flies by and sucks in and pulls everything along with it in its jet stream, the exact same thing happens in your duct system. When air flows through it, it pulls and sucks in all the contaminants that are in your attic. The dust, the dirt, and even the insulation, it sucks all that into the ductwork, which then flows down into your living space.

It can cause people to be sick, or increase their allergies, asthma, or even hay fever. The only way to prevent that is to encapsulate and properly seal the duct work as we do here at Pacific Aire in our unique Performance Aire 12-step process!

The knowledge we like to use at Pacific Aire is that the furnace and air conditioner are like the heart of the HVAC system and the ductwork is like the arteries. So, when someone has a heart attack is it typically the heart that fails? Or is it a clogged or broken artery? The answer is – The artery.

That is the exact same thing with the duct system and the furnace! When one of these typically fails it is a duct system that has been improperly designed or improperly installed in your home that is causing the failure. Our 12-step process ensures that you as a homeowner receive balanced airflow throughout all the rooms in your house!

Many people don’t realize that leaky air duct systems are an epidemic in California. This is confirmed by a report put out by the California Energy Commission. It stated that the average California home loses 30% of the conditioned air through leaky air ducts. We are finding that homes are leaking 50 or 60 sometimes even 70% which is really a major issue, and this is what the Performance Aire process was designed to solve.

Here’s the 12-step exclusive Performance Aire duct design process:

Step 1 – The first step in this process is an on-site analysis of the client’s HVAC system, current duct system, and home design.

Step 2 – Your new system will be designed by a trained and certified indoor air quality specialist.

Step 3 – Your home will be prepared for the new Performance Aire ductwork system. Your existing ducting will be bagged and sealed to insure your home is kept clean and safe.

Step 4 – The installation of your new Performance Aire system begins with pulling the inner barrier of the duct over the metal connector and securing it with a high-tension draw band. This will make sure the duct will stay in place for many years to come.

Step 5 – A coat of fiber-reinforced sealant is applied to the joint, this will ensure that the air you pay to heat and cool will stay inside, and that contaminated air from in your attic or under your home will not enter your living space.

Step 6 – The gold-certified formaldehyde-free insulation and the outer reflective radiant and vapor barrier are pulled over the sealed connection and secured with a draw band and tightened down with a tensioning tool.

Step 7 – All seams on the metal connections of your Performance Aire system are then sealed with the fiber-reinforced sealant.

Step 8 – Additional foil-backed insulation is added over any exposed metal ensuring the temperature and humidity in your attic doesn’t affect the temperature and humidity of the air coming into your home.

Step 9 – Adjustable air flow dampers are installed throughout the Performance Aire System, what this will do is to help avoid any hot or cold spots in the home and maintain a nice and even temperature in the home so everyone can be comfortable.

Step 10 – Every airflow supply connection is sealed with a high-pressure material this ensures only pure air is delivered into your home avoiding any contaminants from your attic or crawl space. Then, new adjustable multi-directional air registers are installed for proper air distribution.

Here are the following steps after the installation of your new Performance Aire ductwork system is complete:

Step 11 – A duct air balance is performed to ensure that every room in the home gets balanced heating and cooling. Once complete,

Step 12 – A duct pressure test is performed by a third party to ensure ductwork efficiency and energy savings compliance is perfectly in line with California standards.

By now you have a better understanding of the entire Pacific Aire air distribution process. Another unique thing that we are very proud of is our Performance Aire ductwork system which comes with a lifetime guarantee so that you never have to worry about your duct system leaking in the future!
